I have over 11 years worth of experience supplying photographic backgrounds to architectural visualisers for use in AVR and verified imagery.

The function of these images is to provide accurate evidence upon which informed decisions can be made. The validity of this evidence relies on the accuracy of the alignment between the photograph and the CGI model which is presently achieved using a visual best fit between rasterized information of unknown geometrical accuracy in a photograph with numerical data of certificated accuracy in a survey.

Recently developed forensic image analysis techniques have started to question the accuracy of this processes and it seemed clear that without accurate and verifiable data for the photographic material progress to a higher standard of accuracy or even any measurable accuracy is not possible.

To this end I have developed a workable system to create precise values for all real world camera parameters using a combination of survey standard camera positioning, re engineered camera components and software analysis and calibration of the optical systems.

When these values are entered into the virtual camera settings during traditional camera matching procedures rendered survey points will precisely align with their corresponding targets in all areas of the image using only lateral camera target point adjustment.
